'Liquid Gold' Facial
What is PRP Treatment?
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a natural skin and tissue regeneration therapy using your own blood platelets. These concentrated platelets are re-injected into your skin and activate stem cells and growth factors, which trigger skin and tissue repair.
It has become one of the world’s most popular anti-ageing treatments for its versatility of treatment, impressive results and the fact that it uses your body’s own natural resources to plump and regenerate skin.
Platelet rich plasma contains special proteins that are essential in the regeneration of tissues as well as activating new blood vessel formation and connective tissue repair. This stimulates new collagen production, improving skin health and creating a more youthful and luminous complexion.
PRP treatments work on all three layers of the skin – the epidermal, dermal and subdermal layers – achieving overall rejuvenation by improving the quality and function of your skin and restoring plumpness to fine lines, scarring and crêpey skin as well as improvement in skin laxity and tone.
Often referred to as “liquid gold” injections, PRP therapy has been used for decades in wound healing, orthpaedics and sports medicine with excellent results, and also has widespread application in hair restoration, sexual function and cosmetic medicine.
At Pavilion Cosmetic Medicine, we perform PRP injections using the advanced EmCyte PurePRP II. No other extraction system can match the concentrations and efficacy of PurePRP II to restore natural volume and enhance the health and youthful function of skin.
How does PRP work?
The procedure involves extracting a sample of your blood, centrifuging the blood and concentrating the platelets using the specialised PurePRP system, and reinjecting the concentrated solution into the treatment areas.
The platelets harvested with the PurePRP system contain a cocktail of beneficial ingredients, such as growth factors and cytokines that cause a cascade of anti-ageing activity after being re-injected back into the skin.
PurePRP activates stem cells that form new tissue such as collagen, elastin, muscle, nerves and blood vessels to help restore the optimal structure of your skin.
White blood cells assist in removal of damaged tissue, pathogens, bacteria and fibrotic tissue, allowing the new layer of healthy collagen and elastin to grow. The result is brighter, hydrated, plump and more youthful skin.
As well as the platelets, the plasma itself contains many factors that are essential for optimal cell function, including nutrients, vitamins, hormones, electrolytes and proteins.
We believe PurePRP is the leading PRP device available, ensuring optimal concentrations of platelets and blood plasma and more comfortable re-injection techniques.

Our different options
Results
Most patients will notice improved skin hydration within a week of treatment, however, the underlying structural regeneration is more obvious after 30 days and will continue to improve even further over the course of a few months.
We usually recommend a series of three treatments, spaced several weeks part, for optimal improvements to skin texture, tone and radiance.
The final results of PRP therapy can last as long as 1-2 years, depending on your lifestyle and condition of your skin. A yearly maintenance treatment is recommended to help extend these results.
To compound anti-ageing results and further enhance skin rejuvenation, PRP is often used in conjunction with other procedures such as laser and cosmetic injectables.
What to expect
Your Treatment Experience
You will first meet with one of our cosmetic practitioners to discuss your skin concerns, expectations and outline an appropriate treatment plan. Where your skin condition is not deemed suitable for PurePRP, other treatment options will be suggested.
PurePRP treatment begins with a simple blood draw, which is spun in a unique medical device to separate and harvest plasma, platelets, anti-inflammatory white blood cells and bioactive proteins. The process to create PurePRP takes about 20 minutes in total.
PurePRP is collected into a syringe and re-injected with a fine needle back into your skin and tissue, where it’s needed. Our experienced and gentle injectors ensure the procedure is comfortable. Numbing cream or icepacks can be applied if necessary. You should feel minimal discomfort.
You will experience a mild inflammation and swelling after PurePRP treatment, but this will generally settle within 2-3 days. Some minor bruising may also occur, which typically resolves within 3-5 days.
PurePRP generally does not have any downtime – most of our patients do not take any time off work and resume their normal activities the next day.
Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
Am I a good candidate?
PurePRP therapy is suitable for just about anyone. It can be used on any part of the body showing signs of ageing, skin laxity, lost volume, poor blood flow or tissue degeneration.
For severely sun-damaged skin, a laser skin resurfacing treatment may be more appropriate. If you have more extensive skin sagging, a thread lift may be better suited to your needs. At your consultation, your practitioner will assess the condition of your skin and listen to your concerns and goals to ensure the most suitable treatment options are presented to you.
PRP is not suited if you have an active infection, a low platelet count, have cancer or are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Is it safe?
PurePRP is autologous, meaning it is found naturally in your body (i.e. your blood). Because of this, PurePRP poses no risk of allergic reaction, sensitivity or other complication when extracted and re-injected under medical conditions. When performed by an experienced injector, the treatment is relatively painless with minimal downtime and excellent safety protocol.
Can PRP be combined with other treatments?
PurePRP therapy is commonly performed to enhance the results of other procedures such as CO2 DOT laser, Thread Lifting, MonaLisa Touch, Dermal Fillers and CALIBRE.
At your consultation we will provide you all your treatment options and offer a tailored treatment package that best suits your needs and aesthetic goals.
How much does PRP cost?
The cost of PRP therapy is dependent on your individual needs and goals. Generally, a series of 3 treatments is recommended. At your consultation we will outline the cost of your treatment plan and explain our different package discounts.
