Pigment reduction treatment – at a glance
Hollywood Spectra™ has a range of wavelengths and power intensities to allow safe treatment of many pigmented lesions such as freckles (ephelides), solar lentigines (liver or age spots) and seborrheic keratoses (barnacles); with reduced side effects compared to traditional lasers and intense pulsed light devices. Our treatment options are safe and are tailored to be suitable to all skin types, including dark or ethnic skin types.
One to two treatment sessions may be required to reduce or clear sun-induced freckles and hyper-pigmentation. Depending on overall skin concerns, a holistic combination treatment approach may be recommended by our practitioners.
The first step is to book a skin assessment with our Dermal Clinician, so that we can review the areas of concern and tailor a treatment plan that is specific to you and your goals.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
How can the Hollywood Spectra be used to reduce pigmentation?
The Hollywood Spectra is referred to as a photo-acoustic or photo-mechanical laser treatment, which can effectively shatter and reduce certain types of pigmentation found in the skin. The laser emits high-intensity light energy that targets excessive melanosomes in the skin, causing it to break down and be absorbed by the body. Ultimately this results in a reduction of pigmentation and a more even skin tone.
As well as pigmentation, what concerns and area can the Hollywood Spectra be used to treat?
The Hollywood Spectra can be used to treat a variety of pigmentation concerns, including age spots, sun damage, melasma and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. The treatment is safe for all skin types and can be performed on the face, neck, hands, and other areas of the body.
What is the Hollywood Spectra treatment sensation like?
During the treatment, the Hollywood Spectra laser is passed over the skin in short pulses. Patients may experience a slight prickly feeling or warming sensation, but the treatment is generally well-tolerated and does not require anaesthesia.
Are there any other treatment options available to the Hollywood Spectra device?
Yes, there absolutely are. The settings of the device may be customised to suit each patient and their unique area of concern and goals they wish to achieve.
