What to expect
Consultation
Dermamelan is an advanced cosmetic procedure performed by our Dermal Practitioner within our Doctor-led clinic, so a consultation is essential to assess your suitability and understand your desired outcomes. If your skin is deemed unsuitable for this depigmentation treatment, alternative options will be recommended to you.
Pre-treatment preparation
Our Dermal Practitioner will explain how to prepare your skin during your consultation.
Treatment
Dermamelan is a two-phase treatment. The initial part takes place in our clinic, where our Dermal Practitioner will apply the treatment mask to the area of skin being treated. This needs to remain in place for 8 to 12 hours, depending on your skin type and the severity of your pigmentation. It’s advisable that you book your Dermamelan treatment in the morning, so that once it’s applied you can go home and wash it off just before bedtime.
Phase-two is an at home maintenance program. It comprises of 7 full sized Mesoestetic skincare products that are included in the treatment cost. These must be exclusively used for at least 12 weeks post phase-one. A skin reassessment will occur at this point, where you’ll see your before and after depigmentation images and have a personalised ongoing skincare routine prescribed by our Dermal Practitioner.
Post treatment
Redness is evident immediately after washing off the depigmentation mask and can persist for up to 4 weeks. It generally starts to subside from day two onwards.
Pigmentation will become darker as it’s pushed towards the surface of your skin before shedding. This can last until the peeling has finished, which usually takes around two weeks.
Skin peeling and dryness will occur as the old skin is pushed to the surface and your new skin is revealed. The shedding usually starts from the centre of your face and graduates towards the perimeter. The parts of your expression that move a lot (like around your mouth), will peel faster and more excessively. Optimal results will be achieved when you allow the skin to shed naturally.
Skin sensitivity may increase due to the intensity of the depigmentation treatment causing a temporary impairment to the barrier of your skin. You may feel mild burning or tingling when applying your skin care products which usually subsides after a few minutes.
You’ll be invited to come into our clinic to enjoy 3 complimentary LED Healite sessions at days 2, 6 and 14 (subject to change based on each individuals healing times) after the phase-one appointment to aid your healing and promote optimal results.
Comprehensive post care guidelines will be given to you, so you can refer to them at home.
