Every time you smile, laugh, squint, frown and even blink, your facial muscles contract, stretching and then relaxing your skin which causes creases to form. With repetitive use of the orbicularis oculi muscle that surrounds the eye, these creases become deeper and more noticeable, forming wrinkles commonly known as “crow’s feet” or “smile lines”.
Crow’s feet wrinkles, which radiate from the outer corners of the eyes, are often one of the signs of premature ageing. As well as constant use of the muscles around the eyes, with age the delicate skin around your eyes becomes thinner and collagen and elastin levels drop, leading to more pronounced wrinkles around your eyes.
The best-known treatment for crow’s feet and smile lines are injectable wrinkle relaxers – this is one of our most requested and popular procedures at Pavilion Cosmetic Medicine. They work by blocking nerve stimulation to wrinkle-causing muscles, which prevents the muscle from contracting and significantly reduces wrinkles.

The results generally take around 5 days to become visible, as the muscles start to relax, and normally reach their peak by the second week.
Crow’s feet treatment lasts around 3-4 months.
What to expect
Your Treatment Experience
After a thorough consultation with one of our cosmetic practitioners, the product is injected into the orbicularis oculi muscle, which is responsible for causing crow’s feet and smile lines around the eyes. The procedure usually takes about 10 minutes and there is no downtime.
Treatment with muscle relaxers is very well tolerated. Numbing cream is available, but the vast majority of our patients do not require any topical anaesthetic.
With a skilled injector doctor on our team, crow’s feet treatment has an excellent safety profile. The most common side effects are temporary minor redness and occasionally bruising at the injection site.
